Every one would love to be young always. But that is not possible as per the technology available today. May be one day... But there are options for you to improve your skin.

- You can get the attention off wrinkles by using highlighter on creases of your skin. As more light is reflected of here, that will reduce the shadow. If you use concealer instead, it will make the lines more visible.

- You can tighten and add tone to your skin by using a face mask. Even if the tightening effect is temporary and cosmetic, it has other positive aspects like clearing the clogs on your skin and conditioning your skin.

- How can you improve your droopy eyes? Once you groom your eye brows, your eye lids will look like they are lifted. The totality of your eye will be better visible after more of your skin start becoming visible around your eye brow bone.

- How can you lift your eyes? Your eyes will look much more open and appear alive, if you use a eye lash curler.

- As face powder tend to accumulate in wrinkles and creases of your face and make them more noticeable, avoid using them. They are not in style any more, either.

- You could pull your hair back in to a pony tail, provided you have enough length. A pony tail is considered hair style of the young people for one thing. Another advantage of a pony tail is that it pulls the skin near your fore head and temples up ward and reduce the wrinkles there. You can use bangs to hide the wrinkles on your fore head as well.

- Keep your skin cells hydrated well and luscious with the use of a good moisturizer. Make sure there is no mineral oil content in the moisturizer as it may clog your skin pores and may cause further pimples.

If you treat your skin well every day, that would give you younger looking skin. Make sure you moisturize and use a sun screen always, even below your make up. Exfoliate your skin at least twice every month or so.

Vitamin C And Your Skin

How is Vitamin C affecting your skin?

You may have already noticed the fact that Vitamin C is an ingredient of most skin care products.

What is the reason for this? Vitamin C helps in the creation of collagen which gives the skin it's elasticity.

How good is it? Many people tend to give favorable reports on its efficiency, even though the results depend on the person involved.

Most of the time you try some skin care products, it is going to take a while before you see the results. This is not so in the case of Vitamin C.

Tips for Making Healthier Fast Food Choices

America has been called a "fast food nation" and for good reason. Everyday, one out of four Americans eats fast food. If you are eating out, fast food restaurants are often the cheapest option, but unfortunately, not usually the healthiest one. Eating just one fast food meal can pack enough calories, sodium and fat for an entire day, but the quick-and-cheap temptation can be hard to resist.

As an informed customer, you can make healthier choices and still enjoy the convenience of fast food restaurants

Learning to make healthier choices at fast food restaurants

Making healthier choices at fast food restaurants is easier if you prepare ahead by checking guides that show you the nutritional content of meal choices at your favorite restaurants. Free downloadable guides help you evaluate your options. If you have a special dietary concern, such as diabetes, heart health or weight loss, the websites of national non-profits provide useful advice. You can also choose to patronize restaurants that focus on natural, high quality food.

If you don’t prepare ahead of time, common sense guidelines help to make your meal healthier. For example, a seemingly healthy salad can be a diet minefield when smothered in high-fat dressing and fried toppings, so choose a salad with fresh veggies, grilled toppings and a lighter dressing. Portion control is also important, as many fast food restaurants serve enough food for several meals in the guise of a single serving.

Top tips for healthy eating at fast food restaurants

Make careful menu selections pay attention to the descriptions on the menu. Dishes labeled deep-fried, pan-fried, basted, batter-dipped, breaded, creamy, crispy, scalloped, Alfredo, au gratin or in cream sauce are usually high in calories, unhealthy fats or sodium. Order items with more vegetables and choose leaner meats.

Drink water with your meal. Soda is a huge source of hidden calories. One 32-oz Big Gulp with regular cola packs about 425 calories, so one Big Gulp can quickly gulp up a big portion of your daily calorie intake. Try adding a little lemon to your water or ordering unsweetened iced tea.

“Undress” your food. When choosing items, be aware of calorie- and fat-packed salad dressings, spreads, cheese, sour cream, etc. For example, ask for a grilled chicken sandwich without the mayonnaise. You can ask for a packet of ketchup or mustard and add it yourself, controlling how much you put on your sandwich.

Don't be afraid to special order. Many menu items would be healthy if it weren't for the way they were prepared. Ask for your vegetables and main dishes to be served without the sauces. Ask for olive oil and vinegar for your salads or order the dressing "on the side" and spoon only a small amount on at a time. If your food is fried or cooked in oil or butter, ask to have it broiled or steamed.

Watch portion size - an average fast food meal can run as high as 1000 calories or more, so choose a smaller portion size, order a side salad instead of fries, and don't supersize anything. At a typical restaurant, a single serving provides enough for two meals. Take half home or divide the portion with a dining partner. Sharing might make dessert (or something else indulgent) more of an option.

Watch your salt. Fast food restaurant food tends to be very high in sodium, a major contributor to high blood pressure. Don’t add insult to injury by adding more salt.

Avoid buffets – even seemingly healthy ones like salad bars. You'll likely overeat to get your money's worth. If you do choose buffet dining, opt for fresh fruits, salads with olive oil & vinegar or low-fat dressings, broiled entrees and steamed vegetables. Resist the temptation to go for seconds, or wait at least 20 minutes after eating to make sure you're really still hungry before going back for more.

Eat mindfully. Pay attention to what you eat and savor each bite. Chew your food more thoroughly and avoid eating on the run. Being mindful also means stopping before you are full. It takes time for our bodies to register that we have eaten. Mindful eating relaxes you, so you digest better, and makes you feel more satisfied.

Remember the big picture – Think of eating out in the context of your whole diet. If it is a special occasion, or you know you want to order your favorite meal at a nice restaurant, make sure your earlier meals that day are extra healthy. Moderation is always key, but planning ahead can help you relax and enjoy your dining out experience while maintaining good nutrition and diet control.

Guides can help you make healthier meal choices

Many fast food chains post nutritional information on their websites. Unfortunately, these lists are often confusing and hard to use. Instead you can go to other websites that provide health and nutrition information, but in easier to follow formats. Some even publish comparison downloadable guides or inexpensive pocket guides. Learn how to make a healthier meal selection at your favorite restaurant:

HealthyDiningFinder.com – allows you to search for restaurants offering a selection of healthier menu options and view the nutrition data for selected items. You can search for area restaurants or a specific restaurant.

Stop&Go Fast Food Nutrition Guide – this guide is particularly convenient and easy to use. Look up any of the major chain restaurants and find out how to make healthier choices. For more information, see below.

Guides for your individual needs

There are many websites geared toward how to make healthy choices at restaurants depending on your specific dietary needs, whether it is for diabetes, cancer, heart disease, or weight management. See below for specific listings.

Hair color tips

Getting your hair color right isn't a science. It's quite simple: Stick to colors that complement your skin tone, figure out if you're best off with single-process color or highlights and then decide if you're going to pay someone else to do it or do it yourself.

Here are 11 hair color tricks your hairdresser knows, from how to avoid the wrong color to how to do it yourself.

How to Choose the Perfect Shade of Blonde

Some women look good in any color (remember Linda Evangelista?) but most women don't. If you had blonde hair as a kid, you'll likely look good with blonde hair as an adult. If you have pink skin that burns easily, and blue or green eyes, you'll look great with blonde hair, but avoid strawberry shades. If you have sallow skin with yellow undertones? Stay away from deep golds.

See photos of famous blondes for inspiration.

If you are going the bottle route, never color your hair more than 2 shades lighter than your natural shade.

More tips here: How to pick the right hair color.

The Right Way to Go (or Stay) Brown

If you have super pale skin and brown hair, consider going lighter. Super dark shades can look ghastly and make you appear older (Eeek).

Once you've colored your hair, you should protect your investment with these 8 best products for colored hair.

Get inspired with this photo gallery of famous brunettes.

Can I Go Red?

Almost everyone can go red, what's most important is finding the right shade of red. If you want to go red, I suggest not trying it on your own. Get a professional consultation. You won't believe the number of emails I get from women writing in unhappy when they tried to go "ginger." ("Ginger" means red outside the US).

To Color or to Highlight, That's the Question

If you have a great base hair tone, you're better off with highlights. You don't want to mess with nature, you want to enhance it. But if your base color washes out your skin tone or is "blah," consider single-process color. Single-process color is cheaper than highlights.

Highlights look best when the stylist uses at least two different shades. Ask for more around your face, they can brighten your complexion.

Keep in mind that due to root growth, all-over coloring will need to be touched up every four to eight weeks, while highlights can last up to two or three months. At the salon, ask for a gloss treatment following your color. Gloss makes hair look shiny and healthy.

You're Going for Highlights, But Which Kind?

There are basically 4 types of highlights: basic foil highlights, baliage or "hair painting," chunking or "piecing" and lowlighting.

Foil highlights add strands of color to hair. You can get up to 5 different shades in hair to make it look more natural.

Baliage, or "hair painting," allows the stylist to add natural stripes of color to hair in large or smaller swaths. This is best for women with a great base color who want to go just a couple shades lighter.

Lowlighting allows the stylist to add darker shades to hair. This give color more contrast.

Should You Do It Yourself?

Home-color kits have come a long way in the past few years. They are perfect for busy people and those who want cut the cost of professional colorings. (We know of a couple top fashion editors who color their hair themselves).

If You're Going With a Box, Stick With Semipermanent Color

Semipermanent colors wash out after a few washes, whereas permanent colors have to grow out.
Some home hair coloring tips: rub Vaseline around your hairline as a protective measure before applying color. To remove after coloring, rub a small amount of cream cleanser and wipe off with cotton balls. Always wear gloves and wrap an old dark-colored towel around your shoulders. Rinse your eyes with water if you get color in your eyes. If you forgot the Vaseline and stained your skin, rub the area with a cotton ball soaked in alcohol-based toner.

Gray, Gray, Go Away, Don't Come Again Another Day

Gray hair can be resilient to hair dye because of its coarse texture. If your hair is less than 15 percent gray, opt for a semi-permanent color that's a shade lighter than your natural color (or matches your color).

Many women who are more than half gray opt to dye their hair blonde. For more information on coloring gray hair, check out this Q&A with stylist Antonio Gonzales of Eva Scrivo in NYC.

So You Hate Your Color? Don't Strangle the Stylist!

Don't be afraid to go back to the salon and talk to your stylist if you are not pleased with the results. There are all sorts of ways to fix color that's just not right. If you did it yourself with a semi-permanent color, look for a shampoo with "ammonium laurel sulfate" to wash away the color faster.

Your Color is Gorgeous, Now What?

Once you invest money in a hair color, you should protect your investment with the proper after-color care. Refresh your color by using a color-enhancing shampoo and conditioner once a week. These products deposit miniscule amounts of color into hair. Check out this list of the 8 best hair products for color-treated hair.

Uh-Oh. Your Roots Are Growing In

You can expect your color to last about 6 to 8 weeks before roots begin to show. If your hair is colored, get your roots touched up or do them yourself with a store-bought kit. I like Clairol Nice and Easy Root Touch Ups. Be sure and test the color first before applying. If you have highlights or lowlights, you can avoid having your whole head colored by asking your stylist to do your hairline, crown and part. A word of warning: Foil highlights require precise application and fixing dark roots is nearly impossible. Ask about easier to maintain highlighting techniques.

Black Hair Care Tips

African-American/Black hair in general is more brittle, coarser, dryer and curlier (nappy) than those of non-African decent. Because of this hair care for a Caucasian would be different than for an African, who needs to be more careful when treating his/her hair because it is more delicate.

African-Black Hair Care Tips
A healthier lifestyle will result in healthier hair.

Massaging your scalp on a regular basis will stimulate oil production, which will help reduce the dryness of your hair.

Daily shampooing is not recommended, ethnic hair is dryer than other types of hair, shampooing strips away the oils from your hair so try shampooing once every 3 to 7 days instead.

If you engage in daily activities that cause you to sweat, it is recommended that you rinse your hair out with water and only use shampoo on occasion, but if you feel the need to use a mild shampoo, go ahead and do so.

Use a mild moisturizing shampoo with a low PH level when washing your hair.

Don't use a 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner, use a separate shampoo and conditioner, 2 in 1's aren't suited as well for dry hair.

When washing your hair rub only in one direction to avoid tangling.

Shower with warm water, hot water can dry and/or irritate the scalp.

Oil your scalp after shampooing, with your hair still moist, massage the oil into your scalp and brush out to the ends of your hair.

Use a conditioner when you shower, it'll moisturize your hair, give it extra protection, add shine, reduce static, and makes it easier to untangle.

Use a leave in conditioner, it'll hydrate and protect your hair. A leave in conditioner on your hair is the equivalent of moisturizer on your face.

Don't rub your hair dry with a towel, instead blot the water out of your hair, when you rub, it'll cause your hair to tangle and you'll also risk breakage.

Limit your use of "hot" items on your hair such as blow dryers.

Use a wide toothed comb or pick to comb your hair. It makes it easier to comb if your hair is slightly moist so the comb can slide easier across your hair. Using a leave in conditioner will also make your hair easier to comb. If your hair is very wet, wait until it dries more, hair is most fragile when it is wet.

If you encounter a tough knot or tangle use your fingers to loosen it and then continue combing.

Comb your hair to remove any tangles before brushing it, using a brush to detangle your hair will stretch your hair and may cause your hair to break off.

Use a soft boar hairbrush on your hair daily which will distribute the oil at the root of your hair and scalp to the rest of your hair. Dampen the brush slightly before brushing.

Get a hot oil treatment once a month which will remoisturize your scalp and hair.

Hair can get caught on cotton pillow cases and break when you are sleeping especially if you toss and turn a lot when you sleep. Using a satin or silk pillowcase where your hair will make it so that hair will slide across the pillowcase without getting caught.

An alternative to the silk pillowcase is to wear a silk or satin scarf over your hair before your sleep to prevent breakage.

Avoid hair products that contain alcohol which dry out your hair.

Bright Skin Tips

It is always imperative that you know your skin type before you follow these simple get bright skin steps. You can either have oily skin, dry skin, or combination skin. Either way, make sure you analyze your skin before you choose any kinds of cleansers of products.

To get bright skin, you first must choose a good cleanser. Soap is only good for anything that is neck down. It can actually be damaging to your face, since the ingredients in the soap are a little harsh for your face. So find a good cleanser for your face and then for your body. For your face, I recommend a light cleanser that won't be too harsh on your face and that contains salicylic acid so that you can maintain a pimple-free face. Wet your face with warm water and apply a dime-sized amount of cleanser on. Rinse off with cold water as the cold water will minimize yourpores.

Next step to getting brighter skin: exfoliating. You must exfoliate both face and body. For the body, I recommend exfoliating 2-3 times a week for softer, younger looking skin, and of course to get rid of dead skin cells. For the face, use a light exfoliating scrub only once a week. Make a routine to exfoliate your face every Saturday. If you have oily skin you can exfoliate about 3-4 times a week. In the summer, exfoliating needs to be kicked up a notch because the sweat acts like glue to your skin and so it will cause the dead skin cells to stick together and coat your face and body.

Third step to getting brighter skin: moisturizer. As we are on the subject of brightness, I suggest a shimmery lotion for your body such as Nivea Silky Shimmer Lotion. Slather some on your legs, arms, chest, and shoulders and you
will look super hot as well as your skin will give out a nice glow. For your face, use a good moisturizing lotion that will calm your skin (you'll feel it). Be careful not to over do it because your pores can clog very easily.

Last step, apply sunscreen ( for the shimmery body lotion, apply the sunscreen before). Sun can cause a lot of damage to your skin as well as age your skin at a much faster rate. So take care of your skin and skip the blazing hot rays because in the need it really isn't worth it!

10 tips for a Firm Sexy Butt!

10 tips for a Firm Sexy Butt!

The gluteus maximus or “glutes” as they are sometimes known as are actually the largest and strongest muscles in your entire body! Nice shapely buns are an exceptionally attractive feature for females and males alike. There are many different slang terms also used to describe this muscle group such as: buttocks, bum, backside, booty, bottom or ass.

You will need to have a proper training regime and a disciplined nutritional plan in place to attain great glutes. It will take some time to achieve a nice firm butt; however it is possible with focus and persistence.

Here are 10 tips to guide you in developing that firm sexy butt!

1. Participate in sports that keep you on your toes: Any form of exercise or activity that keeps us on our feet and moving or which otherwise generally works the legs will help us tone our glutes. This is especially true for any competitive sports because it causes the associated muscles intensely working to contract frequently, including the gluteus maximus. Sports that are amazing for glute development are Running, Walking, Cycling, Tennis, Racquetball, and Swimming as well as any team sports played on ice or a field.

2. Use weights instead of just body weight: To be much more effective and efficient in increasing your lean muscle mass and strength in your glutes, it is a good idea to add weight when you are doing your butt exercises. This will make them work harder and burn many more calories, plus save you time on your way to getting the results you seek. Use dumbbells or barbells for exercises such as squats, lunges, step-ups or wall sits.

3. Do really slow moving exercises: By eliminating momentum and fast moving exercises, which cheat you out of great results, will increase your effectiveness. By utilizing proper form and timing, your muscles will maximize the exercise potential and give them time to fully contract. Take for example doing a squat. I would suggest doing a count of 4 on the way down, pause for a split second and a count of 2-3 on the way back up.

4. Do isometric glute training: Isometrics are a form of exercising involving the static contraction of a muscle without any movement at a specific angle of a joint. This is excellent for building strength and much more effective for increasing power than dynamic exercises. Basically you would hold a specific position for a period of time until muscle fatigue or a set time. Personally, I love the Wall Ball Sit. Take a Swiss Ball and place it up against a wall and then with your legs at a 90 degree angle lean against the ball with your back and hold for as long as you can until your legs give out. To make it more challenging, time yourself, add some dumbbells and then continuously try to break your own record!!!

5. Gluteal Flexing: This can be virtually anywhere and at anytime. Of course you might not want to participate in public; however I will leave that up to you. Simply tighten the muscles of you gluteus maximus and hold the contraction. You can do short repetitions of 1-2 seconds or longer ones of 5-6 seconds then release and repeat. This is a great exercise when you are sitting at your desk, watching TV or working on your computer.

6. Cardio, cardio and more cardio: By focusing your energies on a substantial amount of cardiovascular training will exponentially help shape tight firm glutes! Spice it up and continuously do a variety of different machines. Concentrate on those that directly work the bottom such as the cross-trainer (in both directions), the stepper, stair climber and the rower. Personally I like to do about a half hour first thing when I get up and then another half hour after my one hour resistance training work out in the late afternoon, five days per week.

7. Exercises that target the glutes: It is essential to include some form of resistance exercise when developing nice shapely and strong buns! For the gluteus maximus I would suggest: Barbell and dumbbell squats, dead lifts, lunges, leg press, single leg kick backs and the butt blaster machine. For the gluteus medius you can include seated or cable adduction and abduction. A few other great exercises are the bridge, lying straight leg side raises and kneeling donkey kicks which can also be done with ankle weights for added resistance.

8. When targeting the glutes make sure you can see them: By having your butt in plain view is a great way to motivate you to work on it! Many people who don’t favour their rear end tend to hide it under long t-shirts or tie a long sleeve shirt around it. Everyone in the gym is there for the same reason and believe me by hiding it doesn’t make it magically disappear or go away. Remind yourself in the mirror by keeping it visible and get inspired to do something about it!!!

9. Sneak in some mini work outs throughout the day: A great way to get some bonus miles on your buns is to do exercises while you go through your day. In your office you can keep a set of ankle weights or light dumbbells to periodically take a break. On walks with your dog you can focus on lunging or doing a 90 degree wall sit against a tree. Standing in line at the bank or grocery store you can do calf raises or gluteal flexing. Get creative! It all adds up to a better bum!

10. Relax with a gluteal massage: I absolutely love having my buns participate in a therapeutic massage by a trained professional roughly once a month. By receiving deep muscle massage on your glutes, you will enhance the entire muscle group’s shape, tension and overall health. This is an excellent way to prevent muscle atrophy and restore the muscle group. Plus, it feels really, really good!

So here is a call to action, get up and off of your rear end and attain and maintain that firm sexy butt!!!

Eyebrow make up tips

Filling In Your Eyebrows :

Brush brows downward with a dry, mascara-like wand. To define the arch, use the pencil to draw a line along the upper edge of the brow. Comb the brows upward and outward.

If brows have been severely overtweezed, brush the hairs in the direction of the growth, and fill in any visible patches with powder. Avoid adding to the top or bottom of the brows.

Control Your Brows :

  • Brush brows straight up and then check for hairs that are too long.
  • Snip any offending hair one at a time with a small pair of scissors.
  • Brush brows downward and check again.
  • Repeat the previous step, snipping any hair that seems to be too long.
  • Brush brows into place and check for any hairs that still might need attention.
  • Continue brushing and snipping until your brows can be brushed into place naturally.

Perfect Eyebrows :

Brush brows upward. Carefully trim any excess hair above the top of your natural arch. Be careful not to take off too much at the ends or you'll have brow "bald" spots.

Fill in sparse areas with a freshly sharpened brow pencil; use light, quick strokes to draw in hair. Brow powder will give thin brows overall definition, and is great for a more natural look. Using the brow brush, sweep powder up and outward over brows. If you're a brow novice, a tinted brow gel is a foolproof way to keep brows in place. Lightly coat brows using upward and outward strokes. Wipe off any excess and allow it to set.

Brow Color :
Did you know that brows should be a little lighter than your hair color? Yes, it's true...about two shades. However, if you are blond or gray, the opposite is true.

Brow Color :
Did you know that brows should be a little lighter than your hair color? Yes, it's true...about two shades.
However, if you are blond or gray, the opposite is true.

Are You Happy With The Look of Your Brows? :
If you have tried and tried and just can't get them right, perhaps a trip to the salon is in order. Have a staff member wax your brows (it doesn't take very long) and it will show you exactly what they could look like. After that, all you need to do is a little maintenance every week.

Brow Shapes For Very Small Eyes :

The last thing you need is heavy looking brows. Slowly remove some of the excess from the bottom of the brow.

Brow Shapes For Wide Set Eyes :
Follow the same instructions as those given for close set eyes but begin the brows just a little closer to the nose.

But it Hurts :
If plucking is just a little more painful that you can stand, you can apply a little Ambesol (from the drugstore) to numb the area.

Dyeing Your Eyebrows :

Don't attempt this at home. It a very dangerous thing to attempt that could result in blinding yourself. I'm including this tip because a reader asked for my thoughts on trying it themselves. I suggest checking out your cosmetic counter for the brow color that comes in tubes just like mascara. It will only take you seconds to apply and there is not danger.

Eyebrow Tip :
Did you know that your eyebrow is supposed to start directly above the inner corner of your eye? The hightest point should be just a little beyond the outer corner of the iris and should taper off to the end! So now you know!

Soothe Those Brow Tips :
If your Brow Tips Tips are red and irritated from plucking, soothe the area with the help of a few cool, wet, tea bags. It will help immediately.

Sparse Eyebrows :
One you have overplucked your brows, they simply might not grow back. So what do you do about sparse looking brows? Try this. Brush the brows down and then with an angled brush, apply a little color along the top of each brow. Carefully brush brows back into place and check to see if there are any gaps. If so, touch them up with a little powder and then set with a bit of gel on a brush or clear mascara.

Toothbrush Those Brows :
If you are having trouble taming those brows, here is another little trick. Take a toothbrush and spray with a little hair spray and then brush on brows. The stickiness of the hair spray will help keep them in place.

Trimming Brows :

This is another alternative to tweezing. Brush them up and the really long hairs will be very visible. Instead of tweezing and creating a hole, snip it with a pair of tiny scissors. Works wonderfully.

When Not To Pluck :
Try not to pluck right before your period. If it's going to hurt, this will be the time
